Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 5th October 2026

Welcome to Bristol Tradesfolk.

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of bristoltradesfolk.co.uk (the “Website”), including where you create, manage or use a tradesperson or business listing.

By using the Website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Website.

1. About the Website

Bristol Tradesfolk is an online directory designed to help people find and connect with women and non-binary tradespeople and businesses in Bristol and the surrounding area.

The Website provides a platform for tradespeople to create listings and for consumers to search for and contact listed businesses.

We are not a tradesperson, contractor, agent or employer of the businesses listed on the Website.

Unless we expressly state otherwise, we do not provide, arrange, supervise or guarantee any building, repair, maintenance, installation, decorating, gardening, electrical, plumbing or other trade services advertised through the Website.

Any agreement for work or services is between the consumer and the relevant tradesperson.

2. Eligibility

By creating an account or listing, you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;
  • the information you provide is accurate and not misleading;
  • you have authority to create a listing on behalf of the business concerned, where applicable; and
  • you will comply with these Terms and Conditions and applicable laws.

3. Tradesperson listings

Tradespeople may create listings for their businesses subject to these Terms and any applicable listing or subscription requirements.

You are responsible for ensuring that all information in your listing is:

  • accurate;
  • current;
  • complete;
  • not misleading;
  • lawful; and
  • relevant to the services you provide.

You must update your listing if important information changes.

We may ask you to provide additional information or evidence where we reasonably consider this necessary to verify or moderate a listing.

4. Qualifications, licences and accreditations

Where you state that you hold a qualification, licence, membership, accreditation, certification or other professional status, you must ensure that the statement is accurate and current.

We may ask for evidence of qualifications, memberships, accreditations or other claims.

Unless a listing is specifically marked as verified by us, the presence of information about a qualification, accreditation or membership should not be taken as confirmation that we have independently verified it.

5. Our verification and moderation

We may review, moderate, edit, reject, suspend or remove listings or content where we reasonably believe that:

  • information is inaccurate or misleading;
  • a listing does not meet our eligibility requirements;
  • a user has breached these Terms;
  • content is unlawful, offensive, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate;
  • a business is impersonating another person or business;
  • there is evidence of fraud, spam or other misuse;
  • a listing presents a safety or reputational concern; or
  • removal is necessary to protect users, the Website or our legal interests.

We do not promise to investigate or verify every statement made by a listed business.

A listing being accepted or displayed on the Website does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, guarantee or certification by [WEBSITE NAME].

6. The relationship between consumers and tradespeople

If you contact a tradesperson through the Website, you are contacting an independent business.

Any quotation, booking, contract, payment or agreement for work is made directly between you and the tradesperson.

You should carry out your own checks before engaging a tradesperson. Depending on the nature of the work, you may wish to check matters such as:

  • qualifications;
  • relevant licences or registrations;
  • insurance;
  • references or reviews;
  • written quotations;
  • guarantees or warranties;
  • timescales;
  • payment arrangements; and
  • the scope of work.

You should ensure that you understand the terms of any agreement you enter into with a tradesperson.

Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any rights you have against a tradesperson under applicable consumer protection law.

7. No guarantee of tradesperson services

We do not guarantee:

  • the quality of a tradesperson’s work;
  • the accuracy of a listing;
  • the qualifications or experience of a listed tradesperson;
  • that a tradesperson is insured or licensed;
  • that a tradesperson will respond to an enquiry;
  • that a tradesperson will be available;
  • the price or value of a service;
  • the outcome of any work;
  • that a tradesperson is suitable for a particular job; or
  • that a tradesperson will comply with an agreement made with a consumer.

You are responsible for deciding whether to engage a tradesperson.

8. Enquiries and contact details

Where the Website allows consumers to contact a tradesperson, information submitted through an enquiry form may be sent to the relevant tradesperson.

You should avoid including sensitive personal information or information that is unnecessary for the enquiry.

Tradespeople must only use information received through the Website for legitimate purposes connected with responding to the relevant enquiry and providing or discussing their services.

Tradespeople must not use enquiry information for spam, harassment, unlawful marketing or unrelated purposes.

9. Prohibited content and behaviour

You must not use the Website to:

  • provide false, misleading or fraudulent information;
  • impersonate another person or business;
  • upload content that you do not have permission to use;
  • upload malicious software or harmful code;
  • send spam or unsolicited communications;
  • harass, threaten or abuse another person;
  • discriminate unlawfully;
  • publish defamatory or unlawful material;
  • promote illegal activities;
  • collect personal information about other users without a lawful reason;
  • interfere with the operation or security of the Website;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts or systems; or
  • use the Website for any purpose that breaches applicable law.

10. User-generated content

You may be able to upload or submit content such as:

  • business descriptions;
  • photographs;
  • logos;
  • reviews;
  • testimonials;
  • comments; and
  • other material.

You remain responsible for content that you submit.

By submitting content to the Website, you confirm that:

  • you own it or have the necessary rights and permissions to use it;
  • it does not infringe another person’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • it is not unlawful or misleading; and
  • it complies with these Terms.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote and improve the Website and directory.

You retain ownership of your content.

We may remove content where we reasonably believe that it breaches these Terms or applicable law.

11. Reviews and recommendations

Where the Website allows reviews or testimonials, they must reflect genuine experiences.

You must not:

  • submit fake reviews;
  • submit reviews on behalf of another person without authorisation;
  • submit multiple reviews intended to manipulate a business’s reputation;
  • offer or accept payment or other incentives for misleading reviews;
  • submit reviews about your own business while pretending to be a customer; or
  • deliberately submit misleading or defamatory content.

We may remove or moderate reviews where we reasonably believe they breach these Terms.

We do not guarantee that every review represents an accurate or complete account of a business.

12. Intellectual property

The Website and its content, including its design, branding, text, graphics, logos, structure and functionality, are owned by or licensed to Bristol Tradesfolk unless otherwise stated.

You may use the Website for its intended purpose.

You must not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell or commercially exploit Website content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

You retain ownership of original content you submit to the Website, subject to the licence described above.

13. Paid listings and subscriptions

Where you make a donation when creating a listing:

  • the applicable price will be displayed before payment;
  • you are responsible for providing accurate billing information;
  • payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider;
  • the applicable subscription period will be stated at the point of purchase;
  • renewal and cancellation arrangements will be stated before you purchase; and
  • any statutory rights you have as a consumer are unaffected.

If you are purchasing a listing on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

14. Cancellation and removal of listings

You may request cancellation or removal of your listing by contacting bristoltradesfolk@gmail.com or using the relevant account functionality.

We may suspend or remove a listing where there is a breach of these Terms or where we reasonably consider that removal is necessary for legal, safety, security or operational reasons.

Where appropriate, we may contact the listing owner before taking action.

15. Availability of the Website

We aim to keep the Website available and functioning properly, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

We may temporarily suspend the Website for maintenance, security, updates or other operational reasons.

We may also change, suspend or discontinue features of the Website from time to time.

16. Third-party websites and services

The Website may contain links to third-party websites, including websites, social media profiles and services belonging to listed tradespeople.

These links are provided for convenience.

We do not control or accept responsibility for third-party websites, their content, availability, security, privacy practices or services.

You access third-party websites at your own risk.

17. Our liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bristol Tradesfolk is not responsible for losses arising from:

  • the services provided by a listed tradesperson;
  • the acts or omissions of a tradesperson or consumer;
  • the accuracy or completeness of information supplied by users;
  • agreements entered into between consumers and tradespeople;
  • disputes between users and tradespeople; or
  • the availability or performance of third-party websites or services.

Nothing in these Terms affects any legal rights that you may have which cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

18. Indemnity

If you are a tradesperson or other business user, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Website, or content that you submit to the Website, to the extent permitted by law.

This provision does not apply where doing so would be unlawful.

19. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account or listing if you materially breach these Terms or where we reasonably believe this is necessary to protect the Website, its users or our legal interests.

You may stop using the Website at any time.

Provisions which are intended to continue after termination, including provisions relating to intellectual property, liability and user content, will continue to apply where appropriate.

20. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is explained in our [Privacy Policy].

By using the Website, you acknowledge that you have been provided with information about how we process personal information.
